Edward Hancock II's Blog - And They Say We Don't NEED Prayer In Public Schools

May. 24th, 2007 03:07 pm And They Say We Don't NEED Prayer In Public Schools

They say we don't need prayer in public schools. For those who truly feel that way, I'd like for you to look at the list below. (And if you don't feel that way, you should look at this list, because it will reinforce everything you feel!)

First a bit of back ground information. Prior to the interference of one Madalyn Murray O'Hair, prayer was allowed in public schools. Even before we were a nation, prayer in the English Colonies was a regular occurence in public schools. But let's focus on America. We became a nation in 1789, with the defeat of the British. Here is a list of school shootings from 1789 to 1960, when Murray O'Hair first launched her landmark quest to remove God from public schools (A decision was rendered in 1963 by the way)

Really?

(Link)
Every day more people are slaughtered in the name of God than have been killed in all of these school shootings combined. More religeous divisiveness is not the answer. You might want to spend some more time with your own bible:

"Whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray while standing in synagogues and on street corners so that people can see them. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:5-6).

Re: Really?

First off, what I would like to point out is that numbers don't lie. If you can look at the numbers and see no need for GOD you are turning a blind eye. Second, I am not impressed with your knowledge of one Bible scripture. In The Wilderness, even SATAN proved he knew The Bible as he did his best to TEMPT Jesus to sin.

As I am not Jesus, I'm afraid I would fail this temptation test if it lasted too long, but I will leave you with these final thoughts.

First, I never said we should pray to a BAPTIST God, a Muslim God, a Jewish God or what have you. I said we should be allowed to pray. I did not say a TEACHER should lead in the public expression of the prayer, nor did I say we should endoctrinate our children with a morning BIBLE reading. But allowing them a few moments to acknowledge God in his or her own way is proven to be helpful to school children. If you doubt me you need only look at the numbers. If you can't SEE that from the numbers given above, you will forever be blinded and MY prayers from now on will include your eyes to be opened.

SECOND, We're not talking about a battlefield where armed soldiers are fighting for this piece of land or that piece of land. We are talking about an abstract battle where SATAN is fighting for our child's soul. Arming them with the power of prayer is never wrong. No matter what the likes of Madalyn Murray O'Hair might think. If you doubt that, Ask her son, William.

LAST, As I read back over this article, I'm compelled to add one final thought. Many of the shootings listed above show that maybe 1 person died, 1 was injured. Maybe a couple injured here and there. One even lists that no one was injured. (Mercifully so!)

When you think about it, one injured or one dead really isn't that much when the average school size could be anywhere from 200 to 2000 students. (I don't know the numbers. I'm pulling those out of the air for reference only). But then I'm immediately floored with a singular realization.

"Only One Dead..."

I only have ONE child to begin with. Many of you might have two, three or more children. But what if that ONE dead was one of yours? What if you woke up the mother of four and went to bed that same night the mother of three? (and if you don't have children, this is how you're so easily able to turn a blind eye. Lack of empathy is a very powerful tool! One Satan uses quite craftily!)

"Only One Dead...?"

Not as long as prayer is still allowed into my heart!

You might be able to take it out of my son's school...but you'll never take it out of my SON!

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." -2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
